Possible disannexation could cost PA millions

A 32,000 acre tract of land near the Rainbow Bridge is the subject of a disannexation hearing that could result in a significant loss of property values for the city of Port Arthur.
Port Arthur City Council members at their Tuesday meeting will decide whether to approve a resolution denying a disannexation petition brought by Rodney Sr. and Debbie Townsend.
Orange County attorney Alan Sanders said he clients had moved onto property after it was annexed by the city of Port Arthur in 1997, have paid city taxes, but do not have city services.
