A 1-year-old child is recovering after a near drowning incident that happened in Port Neches on Sunday.

Port Neches Fire Department responded a home in the 1800 block of Llano at about 5:22 p.m. Oct. 2. The child was found in a pool and not breathing and the parents of the child worked to resuscitate the child, Port Neches Fire Chief Stephen Curran said.

When first responders arrived, the child was conscious and breathing on his own.

The child was brought by Acadian Ambulance to the Medical Center of Southeast Texas.
