Hilton P. Ferguson, Sr.

Hilton P. Ferguson, Sr., 87, of Groves, Texas passed away Monday, June 14, 2010 at Promise Hospital in Nederland.
Hilton was born September 26, 1922 in Port Arthur, Texas to George Henry Ferguson and Agnes Mendoza Ferguson. He was a lifelong area resident and member of First Baptist Church of Orangefield. He retired from Texaco as a welder with 40 years of service. He was also a 40 year member of OCAW and served as a steward on the safety committee. He was director on the board for Texaco Credit Union and also supervisor of the committee for Five Point Credit Union. He served in The European Theater with the U.S. Army during World War II.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Reverend Jim Durdin, pastor of Woodcrest Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Hilton was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Ann Mills Ferguson; sister, Georgia Rae Ryan; and two brothers, Roy Ferguson and James Ferguson.
Survivors include his daughter, Aggie Williams of Bayou Vista, TX; sons, Hilton P. Ferguson, Jr. and wife, Olita of Groves, TX, James Ferguson and wife, Janice of Austin, TX; four grandchildren, Kenny Williams, Belinda Williams Lloyd, Jeff Ferguson and Patti Yoast; eight great-grandchildren, Kenneth J. Williams, Alyssa Williams, Tommy Lloyd, Jeffrey Lloyd, Hannah Ferguson, Hailey Ferguson, Jonathan Yoast, and Grace Yoast.
