Juvenile arrested for breaking into post office boxes

A 16-year-old is in custody after Groves police discovered someone breaking into post office boxes at the Groves post office, 6230 39th St.
Because of his age, the suspect’s name has not been released.
The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. Monday when Groves Police Officer Dane Hollier made the discovery, according to a statement issued by Groves police.
Police believe the youth had broke into nine post office boxes, stealing several thousand dollars worth of checks as well as credit cards.
Officer located what they believed to be stolen mail in the suspect’s vehicle.
The 16-year-old Groves resident was booked into the Minnie Rogers Juvenile Justice Center.
The cases is being investigated by the Groves Police Department and the United States Postal Inspector’s Service.
