A man and his pregnant wife were robbed at gunpoint at a local motel on Sunday.
The local couple were staying at Southwinds Inn on East Parkway when four black males wearing masks forcibly entered their room about 11:40 p.m. April 19.
One of the robbers armed with a large black gun, possibly a Glock, put the gun to one of the victim’s head. Meanwhile the other three men rummaged through the couple’s belongings, Groves Police Det. Kirk Rice said.
The suspects fled the scene with cash, credit cards and cell phones.
“The woman, who is pregnant, was very distraught and taken by EMS to The Medical Center of Southeast Texas for evaluation,” Rice said.
No other injuries were reported.
Robberies at local motels have occurred in the past. But this robbery is different from previous robberies in that the suspects entered the motel room, Rice said. Past robberies often occurred when the motel guest was in the parking lot or otherwise outside the room.
The suspects are described as:
Suspect No. 1: Black male, approximately 25 years of age, 230 pounds, 5-foot 8-inches tall, wearing a multi-colored dark sweat shirt with a hood, blue jeans.
The other three suspects are described as: Black male, 20-35 years of age, unknown clothing.
The suspect vehicle is described as a 1997-1999 Buick passenger car, burgundy in color. The car has a chrome trim line along the bottom of both sides of the vehicle.
