Nederland nears co-championship

LUMBERTON — The Nederland Bulldogs remained on course Friday night for a really big contest this upcoming Tuesday.

Nederland is now 11-2 in District 20-4A after Friday’s 64-56 win at Lumberton. The Bulldogs are 22-7 overall.

Tuesday’s home game against Beaumont Central will have a lot riding on it. The winner will be named co-champion of the district.

Colton Weisbrod had 29 points and 10 rebounds Friday while teammate Jaylan Ballou finished with 18 points and five assists. Tyler Toon had 11 points and two steals.


Ozen boys 79, PN-G 33

PORT NECHES – For the first six minutes of the game, Port Neches-Groves was tied up with the heavily favored Ozen Panthers.

It was 2-2 with two minutes left in the first and that is when Ozen finished the period on an 8-0 run.

Ozen then outscored PN-G 28-14 in the second to take a 38-16 lead at the break.

The Panthers were too much for the Indians in the second half by outscoring PN-G 41-17 after halftime.

Adam Morse led the Indians with 11 points while Josh Boyd had 14 for the Panthers.

PN-G ends its season Tuesday with a road trip to Livingston.
