Betty J. Linden
Funeral services for Mrs. Betty J. Linden, 76, of Port Arthur are scheduled for 2 pm Saturday at Gabriel Funeral Home. Pastor Nolan Davis and Co-Pastor Linda Davis will officiate. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, in Port Arthur.
Visitation will be from 12-2 pm on Saturday at the funeral home, with the family present from 12:30 pm to the time of the service on Saturday.
Betty Jean was born on July 19, 1936 in Beaumont and died on Saturday, November 17 in Mesquite, TX. She was a resident of Beaumont for 19 years and of Port Arthur for 55 years. Mrs. Linden attended Charlton-Pollard High School; was a Certified Nursing Assistant; and a professional Floral Designer and Wedding Planner. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and of the Knights of Peter Claver Clever Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Linden was a founding member of the Jills Social and Civic Club and actively involved with husband “Big Ike” in local, state and national politics with the Democratic Party.
She is preceded in death by husband Issac Linden in 1997; husband Emile Lee in 1967; sister Rose Sanders in February 2012; brother Preston Sanders in 2006 and parents Stennie and Preston Sanders.
Survivors include son Robert “Bobby” Lee of Port Arthur; daughters Carolyn Marks, Denise Bell and husband Marcus, and Angela Cassimere and husband Horace, all of Dallas County; sisters Margaret Harris, Mary Lou Wagner and Barbara Ann Spikes and husband Alvin of Beaumont; grandchildren Cortney Marks and Amanda of Greely, CO, Quintin and Jessica Lee of Webster; Sommer and Giavona Bell, and Grace Cassimere all of Mesquite; and great-grandchildren Hazel Lee and Cayden Marks.
