Doris S. ”Dottie” Perry, 83, of Port Acres, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2013 in Port Arthur. Dottie was born February 26, 1930 in Lafayette, Georgia to the late Ed Shipp and Brady Swicegood Shipp. Dottie is described by her family as a devoted wife and loving mother with an enormous sense of humor. She was a very independent and courageous woman with a zest for life and a fondness for Cajun music. Dottie was a business owner in the area and at the age of 50 became a Merchant Marine and traveled all over the world. She will be greatly missed by many.
Dottie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Loveless Paul “Tootsie” Perry.
Dottie is survived by her daughter, Deborah Perry of Port Acres and Kelly McClintock of New Iberia; son, David Anthony Perry and his wife Cindy of Groves; step daughters, Kathleen Louviere and her husband Wayne of Abbeyville and Theresa “Sue” Perry of New Iberia. She is also survived by Billy Beresky and Jeannie Knowles of Groves; nephews, Tim and Mike Nunn of Atlanta, Georgia; caregiver, Sandra Collins; her faithful and loyal dog, Hayley Ann; 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 2:00 p.m., at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 30, 2013 at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Rejimon George, C.M.I., officiating.
