PORT ARTHUR —
Martha Virgie Richard, born on July 11, 1929, to John B. Richard and Martha Cola-Richard, of Port Arthur passed peacefully in her home on Sunday, April 21, 2013. She is preceded in death by her son, Christopher “Murray” Kennerson.
A native of Ville Platte/Opelousas, Louisiana, she was a resident of Port Arthur for 56 years and a retired sandblaster at Bethlehem Steel. After retiring she became a private duty caretaker until the age of 81. She was a devoted member of the Ladies Auxiliary Ct. 182 and a proud member of Sacred Heart-St. Mary Catholic Church.
Left to cherish memories are her three son, Coyal “Marvin” Kennerson (Dolores) of San Antonio, TX, Margin “Kerry” Kennerson (Florence) of Clute, TX, Mark “Dorsey” Kennerson of Green Acres, FL, as well as her only daughter, Arona “Darlene” Kennerson of Port Arthur; 10 grandchildren, Latrevia Kennerson, Joseph Barefield, Dwight Baker, Jerrod Dorrell, Brandis Kennerson, Latoya Dorrell, Traylon Jones, Amaya Kennerson, Kerry Kennerson, Jr. and Erich Seals; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Sacred Heart-St. Mary Catholic Church with a viewing from 8 a.m. until service time. Rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
