PORT ARTHUR —
Larry Butler was called home to be with the Lord, on April 12, 2013 surrounded by his family.
Larry was born on September 15, 1927 to the union of Eva and Eldridge Butler in New Iberia, LA. He served in the U.S. Army Corp and later married Joyce Frances in 1948, until her untimely death in 1973. To their union was born eight children.
Larry had been a resident of Port Arthur for over 60 years, where he was employed at Fred Miller’s for over 55 years. He was a member of Eastern Star Baptist Church where he was a member of the Mass Choir.
Larry married Grace Beverly Robertson on April 8, 1995.
He enjoyed and excelled at fixing televisions and lawn mowers in his shop at home. He later developed a love for the internet, computer and music.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Grace Beverly; sister, Alma Hector; brother, Milton Butler (Shirley); his daughters, A. Christine Minix (William), Sheryln Brown, Shelia Edwards (Donald), Linda Naville (Irvin) and Tavia Butler; sons, Lurry Butler, Jr. (Gwendolyn), Anthony Butler (Diana) and Dennis Butler (Eda); 24 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 2 great- great grandchildren; godson, Robert Matthews; special in-laws, Roland and Henrietta Broussard; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Eastern Star Baptist Church with a viewing from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. with Pastor Lloyd Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
