Roy Priestley Porterfield, 77, of Beaumont, died Thursday, November 14, 2013, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. He was born on June 20, 1936, in Waurika, Oklahoma, to Ineta Grace Mason Porterfield and Hearl Preston Porterfield. Mr. Porterfield was retired from Mobil Chemical after forty-one years of service. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Beaumont, the Mid County Noon Optimist Club, and Mobil Chemical Retirees Club.
He is survived by his wife, Pat Porterfield; daughters, Marcia Solis and her husband, Robert, of Nederland; Pam Haley of Dallas; Rhonda Melancon and her husband, Zayne, of Nederland; and Tammy Marks and her husband, Darrell, of Beaumont; brothers, Roger Porterfield and his wife, LaVerne and Walter Porterfield and his wife, Peggy, all of Healdton, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Donna Sullivan; and brothers, Richard Porterfield, Bobby Porterfield, Jimmy Porterfield.
A gathering of Mr. Porterfield’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with his funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, November 17, 2013, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at Mount Olive Cemetery, Healdton, Oklahoma.
