Mary Lou Odom, 79, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. She was born on July 1, 1933, in Rockdale, to Annie Bell Newsome Yount and Thadis Walter Yount, Sr., and had been a longtime resident of the area.
She is survived by her husband, David Ross Odom; sons, Dale Newcomb and his wife, Patty, of Spring and Walter Newcomb III and his wife Sherifa, of Port Arthur; sister, Sharon Moore; brothers Thadis Yount, David Yount, and Jack Yount; grandchildren, Christie Zapf, John Newcomb, Patrick Newcomb, Amy Jordan, Jeremiah McCurley, Sam McCurley, and Shawna Newcomb; nine great-grandchildren; step-daughter, Kim Isaacs and her husband, Dennis, of Beaumont; and step-granddaughter, Leslie Hutchison.
Mary Lou is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Walter Newcomb, Jr.; and children, Craig Newcomb and David Newcomb.
A gathering of Mrs. Odom’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 12, 2013, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Westgate Memorial Baptist Church, 6220 Westgate Drive, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
