PORT ARTHUR —
Silvan Lavalais, 89, answered the Master’s call on Friday, November 23, 2012. A native of Big Cane, Louisiana he was born to the union of Emile and Carrie Lavalais. He moved to Port Arthur, Texas in 1942. United in marriage on March 13, 1943 to Genevieve Anderson, six children were born to this union. Mr. Lavalais was employed with Atlantic Richfield (FINA) and retired in 1987 with 31 years of service.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Genevieve, a daughter Emma Rocio; two brothers and three sisters.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving children, Joyce Lavalais, Geraldine Mickens (Lawrence), Barbara Metoyer (Steven), Larry Lavalais (Letha) and Clarence Lavalais (Joyce); a sister, Emma Lynn of Texas City, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Doretha Hawkins and Pauline Andris; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and a host of extended loving family and friends.
Services will be held Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Gabriel Funeral Home Chapel with visitation from 9 a.m. until time of services with Rev. Roosevelt Payne officiating. Interment at Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
