PORT ARTHUR —
Wallace “Bala” Gobar, 90, of Port Arthur, Texas was born March 8, 1923 in Breaux Bridge, LA to Leah Gobar and Willis San Pe’. He went home to meet all his sisters on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Cypress Glen East Nursing Home. Wallace resided in Pot Arthur for over 63 year where was self-employed auto paint and body man. He was a faithful member of Sacred Heart-St. Mary’s Parish.
He is well known by family and friends as “Bala”. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leah Gobar and Willis San Pe; six sisters, Gertrude, Ethel, Norine, Jeanette, Ruby and Mae; two sons-in-law, Ronald and TJ and one grandson Brandon Keith Reynolds.
He leaves to cherish his memories his partner of more than 61 years Helen Green the mother of his children; six daughters, Ardell, Gertrude, Bernadette, Barbara (Robert) of Port Arthur, Paulette (Laronzo) of Oakland, CA, Norine of Orange, TX; three sons, Lester (Linda) and Charles (Debra) of Port Arthur and Daron (Judy) of Houston, TX. He also leaves a legacy of 26 grandchildren; 55 great- grandchildren; 15 great- great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephew, longtime friends and neighbors.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with visitation from 8 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
