Shirley Marie Tauber Sangster, 78, of Nederland, died Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at Memorial Hermann Hospital, Houston. She was born on August 20, 1934, to Minnie and John Tauber in Port Arthur, and had been a lifelong resident of the area. In 2005, she relocated to Pearland. Shirley was a 1953 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and thereafter furthered her education by attending and graduating as a student from Port Arthur College. She spent spare time as a member of the United Daughters of Confederacy, as an active volunteer for scouting with the Three Rivers Council, and was the recipient of the Boy Scouts of America’s Silver Beaver Award.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Marie Ferguson and her husband, Dave, of Pearland and Lisa Nunez and her husband, Alan, of Nederland; son, Robert Sangster and his wife, Debra, of Port Neches; six grandsons; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of forty-three years, R.A. Sangster, two sisters; and one brother.
A gathering of Mrs. Sangster’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 23, 2012, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012, at Broussard’s, with entombment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves.
