PORT ARTHUR —
Samuel William Levingston, 83, died Friday, February 7th, 2014 in Houston.
He was a native of Port Arthur, a graduate of Thomas Jefferson, after which he attended Texas A&M, receiving his degree as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
He entered the U.S. Army as a Captain and served eight years in Germany, where he bought and trained dogs for the military.
Following his discharge he established the Sharpstown Veterinary Clinic in Houston and later served as Veterinarian for the City of Houston.
In recent years he had moved to Lake Conroe and opened a clinic in that area.
He was the owner of a ranch in Guy, Texas and lifelong horseman. He grew up as a member of the Methodist Temple, and later attended St. Luke’s Methodist Church in Houston.
Services will be on Wednesday at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe, with visitation at 2:00 p.m. and the funeral following at 3:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Garden Park Cemetery.
He is survived by two daughters, Heather and Angela Levingston of Houston; one brother, Joel Levingston and wife Portia of Groves; niece, Kathy Levingston and John of Port Neches and nephew, Jay Levingston and wife Belinda of Hamshire; great nieces and nephew, Kara and Katie Scott and Brooks and Brock Levingston.
