           Mary Patricia James Petry entered eternal rest on Monday, November 26, 2012 after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma.  A native of Lafayette, LA, she came to Port Arthur at an early age, where she attended catholic school and was a 1972 graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School.

            After completion of high school, Patricia attended Texas Women’s University in Denton, TX and graduated from Lamar – Port Arthur as an LVN in 1976.  She worked as assistant Director of Nursing at Golden Triangle Convalescent Center for 17 years.  She demanded the best performance from her staff in order to provide excellent service for the patients under her care.

            In 1997 Patricia enrolled at Lamar University where she obtained a Bachelors Degree in Arts and Sciences and became a licensed nursing home administrator in 1999.  She relocated to Houston, Texas, where she lived for 12 years, enjoying the amenities of city life, and her career as the Administrator of Highland Park Care Center in the Heights area.  She was devoted to her staff and patients until her illness no longer allowed her to work.

            Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert, Sr. and Rose Marie James, and a brother, Rev. Kenneth Celestine.

            Remembering her for being a wonderful mother and grandmother are a daughter, Trinette Petry Rose and her husband, Anthony Louis Rose; two grandsons, Kerrington Ja’ Kobi and Anthony Meza Rose.  Also cherishing her memory are three sisters, Mabel James Francis (Peter), Lillian Denise James, and Rev. Vicki James Jacquet (Johnny), all of Port Arthur; three brothers, Walter James, Sr. of Houston; Marcel James Walker (Viveca), and Herbert James, Jr., both of Port Arthur, a devoted aunt, Tonia Ann Walker (Peter), a special friend Normia Jean Jackson, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

            Celebration of Life Services will be on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 2:00 PM at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, with visitation from 12:00 – 2:00 PM.  Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
