Ed Nantz, 76, of Nederland, Texas passed away on January 28, 2013 at Jasper Memorial Hospital in Jasper, Texas. He was born in Port Arthur on July 14, 1936 to the late Kenneth and Wilma Farnham Nantz. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and served his country proudly in the U. S. Air Force. He officiated junior high and high school football games for over 40 years. He retired from Ciba-Geigy as a pharmaceutical rep and was a substitute teacher for Nederland High School. Ed graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1954 and also from Lamar University. One of his greatest enjoyments was watching his grandsons at their sporting events.
Funeral services will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Patrick Hunter officiating.
Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A gathering of family and friends will be on Wednesday, January 30th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Gwen Nantz of Nederland; son, Kevin Nantz and wife, Peggy of Dobbin, Texas; daughters, Debbie Smith and husband, Bruce of Beaumont and Theresa Glover and husband, Wayne of Nederland; grandsons, Brandon Smith and Michael Glover; and sister, Georgette Litchfield and husband, Bill of Deer Park.
Memorials may be given to Hillcrest Baptist Church of Nederland.
