14-year-old Vidor girl killed when hit by car on I-10 bridge

— Sierra Phillips, 14, of Vidor was killed when she walked from the middle of Interstate 10 into the easbound lane of traffic on the  Neches River bridge in Orange County Monday evening.

At approximately 7:41 p.m., Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to a report of a one-vehicle crash on the bridge.

A black Infinity passenger vehicle was traveling eastbound in the outside lane (right lane) of I-10 when a pedestrian walked from the middle of the Interstate into eastbound traffic.  The driver could not avoid striking the pedestrian, according to a DPS press release.

The driver of the Infinity, Debra Krenek of Houston, was transported to St. Elizabeth hospital for observation.  Her husband, Michael Krenek of Houston, was the only passenger in the vehicle and he was not injured.
