Attendees to Groves Public Library’s first Adult Life Enrichment program on Thursday will be greeted by a fresh new look courtesy of expanded parking and new landscaping.
“People who haven’t visited the library in a while will see that parking spaces have been added across the front of the library and beyond, courtesy of the City of Groves,” Library Director Deborah Harper said. “The landscaping around the flagpole area was a recent gift of the Friends of the Groves Public Library.”
The library’s first Adult Life Enrichment program titled “Tips and Tools for Self-Protection” will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the library, 5600 West Washington. The program will be presented by CNC Defense of Port Arthur.
Harper notes that the program is not about physical defense moves such as Karate, but will focus on ways everyone can stay safe.
Groves City Marshal Jeff Wilmore will also address safety issues, basic crime prevention and current crime trends, he said.
Harper noted that the adult classes is something she has wanted to offer for quite some time but the opportunity never came up before now.
The Adult Life Enrichment Series will continue with “De-Cluttering and Spring Cleaning” at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 20.
“Gardening Tips for Seniors” will be offered at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, April 3, and “The Art of Cheese Making” will be a hands-on program on Wednesday, April 9 at 10 a.m.
The library will also offer The Art of Making Wine” on May 15, she added.
The programs will be held in the library’s meeting room. Reservations are suggested for all programs, and required for the cheese making program. To make a reservation or request more information, call 962-6281 or visit the library at 5600 West Washington. All programs in the Adult Life Enrichment Series are free to the public.
