The name of a man killed Thursday in an explosion at Port Arthur’s KMTEX Chemical Plant has been released.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, Johnny Williams, 58, of Groves died from injuries sustained in the blast.
KMTEX, 2450 South Gulfway Drive in Port Arthur, was the site of a flash fire/explosion that killed one person and injured four at about 2:16 p.m. Thursday.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy Rod Carroll said one person suffering from head trauma was flown the University of Texas Medical Branch by Hermann Memorial LifeFlight. A second victim suffering from lower extremity fractures and burns was transported by Air Rescue to UTMB. A third victim suffering from a concussion was transported by Acadian Ambulance Service to Christus Hospital-St. Mary.
