Memorial NJROTC students participate in annual inspection

The Port Arthur News

PORT ARTHUR — The National Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps has been in existence since 1964. According to the NJROTC website, “The programs are conducted at accredited secondary schools and taught by instructors who are retired Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard officers and enlisted personnel.” The program’s curriculum helps to promote citizenship and leadership development, as well as naval operations.

The Memorial High School NJROTC participates in an annual military inspection, which they look forward to every year. This year’s inspection was held on Election Day. The cadets marched, performed armed and unarmed demonstrations as well as held a uniform inspection in front of a crowd of supporters and military personnel. The students and their instructors put in countless hours of work to get to this point. The students performed extremely well and look forward to participating in the event next year.
