BEAUMONT – The Lamar Cardinals will travel to Fort Worth to meet TCU on Thursday in the first round of the Women’s National Invitation Tournament.

The Cardinals (22-7) will be making their sixth appearance in a national postseason tournament in the last nine years. This will be LU’s third time in the WNIT. The Cardinals previously appeared in the WNIT in 2011 against Arkansas and 2014 against Southern Miss.

The Cardinals went 17-1 in Southland Conference play to win the regular-season title and snare the conference’s automatic bid into the WNIT.

Game time, ticket availability and broadcast information will be announced Tuesday. The winner of Thursday’s game will meet the winner of the game between Louisiana Tech and Missouri State in the second round of the 64-team tournament at a time and location to be determined.

The championship game is scheduled for March 31.
