A Groves man is dead after his motorcycle crashed into the back of a flatbed truck Friday morning.

Police said the driver of the motorcycle, identified as Dominic Washington, 31, of Groves, was passing vehicles heading east at about 7:45 a.m. He attempted to merge back into the right lane and lost control of the motorcycle, striking the rear of a flatbed truck in the 2200 block of West Seventh Street, according to a press release from the Port Arthur Police Department.

Valero EMS, Port Arthur Fire Department and Acadian EMS attended at the scene.

The driver of the flatbed truck was not injured and no citations were issued.

PAPD’s Advanced Accident Investigation Team is working the case.
