Will Akins, youth pastor with Encounter Church, flipped burgers on a grill as other church members prepared for their fundraiser. Money collected will go to send the youth and young adult groups to church camp.

“We think it’s phenomenal,” Akins said of Faith and Family Night during RiverFest. ‘This is an opportunity to bring al churches in the area together and worship together. There are different denominations and everyone is together on one accord, which is why I love this event.”

Organizers took the stage around 6 p.m. to welcome the crowd and introduce those who worked behind the scenes to make the event a success year after year.

Port Neches RiverFest continues Thursday through Sunday.
