PREP BRIEFS: Lady Bulldogs, Lady Indians soccer advance

BEAUMONT — The Nederland Lady Bulldogs are moving on to next week’s Class 5A area round playoffs.
Nederland defeated Sheldon C.E. King 4-0 behind the stellar play of keeper Emma Roccaforte and two goals and an assist from Madison Ledet.
The Lady Bulldogs (17-4-1) also got goals from Hailey Plumley and Tatum Kieschnick. Meg Sheppard had an assist for Nederland.
Nederland now faces Ridge Point Friday, April 1. The site and time of the match has not been determined.

PN-GROVES 5,
NEW CANEY PORTER 1
BAYTOWN — Port Neches-Groves senior Mikayla Johnson started the scoring for the Lady Indians and the team never let up against New Caney Porter.
The Lady Indians defeated the Lady Spartans 5-1 to advance to the second round of the playoffs to face George Ranch. Details of the match have not been announced.
Hailey Loupe scored the Lady Indians second goal of the match on a free kick. Grace Seymour put PN-G (15-6-3) 3-0 on another free kick and the Lady Indians led 3-1 at the break.
Kayla Reed scored the third free kick of the night in the second half to put the Lady Indians up 4-1 and Bailey Tran made the final score on a penalty kick.
Porter outshot PN-G 21-10. Lady Indians keeper Libbie LeJeune was noted for making several great saves in the match by coach Aimee Bates.

PA MEMORIAL 0
BEAUMONT — Pasadena Dobie scored 12 seconds into Thursday’s match against Port Arthur Memorial and never looked back.
Dobie ended Memorial’s season with a 4-0 victory at the Thomas Center in Beaumont.
The Titans were outshot 20-4 and got 12 saves from keeper Arturo Villarreal.

BEAUMONT — The Nederland Bulldogs lost a man in the first half and could never recover against a tough-C.E. King squad.
Nederland played the entire second half with 10 men after a red card near the end of the first half and eventually lost 4-0.
The Bulldogs end the year with a 10-6-7 record.

LUMBERTON 6
NEDERLAND — The Nederland Lady Bulldogs gave coach Will Mallette a few gray hairs Thursday night against Lumberton.
The Lady Bulldogs scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh and got a game winning single from Hannah Grumbles to defeat the Lady Raiders 7-6. The single plated Kara Litchfield.
Hannah Goode started the bottom of the seventh off with a homer to spark the rally fire for Nederland (17-8, 6-1).
Goode and Lindsey Taylor both finished 2 for 4 at the plate with a run and a RBI. Bailey Beard was 1 for 3 with two runs and Lexi Eversole was 1 for 2 with a RBI double.
Destini Trahan pitched all seven innings and allowed six runs (one earned) on eight hits with six strikeouts and two walks.
Both Nederland and Lumberton had eight hits and the Lady Raiders had seven errors.

PN-GROVES 11,
VIDOR 1
PORT NECHES — The Port Neches-Groves Lady Indians can take a week’s rest after dispatching Vidor 11-1 in six innings Thursday.
Britni Hunt gave up one run on four hits with eight strikeouts for PN-G (15-6, 6-1).
Alexis LaBure was 2 for 3 at the plate with a RBI double and Rachel Hammersmith was 3 for 4 with three runs, two RBI and two stolen bases.
Avery Hooks was 1 for 2 with a three-run triple and a walk and Bajya Newby was 2 for 4 with a run and a stolen base.
Kaitlyn Boudreaux finished 1 for 2 with two runs and a RBI double and Bailey Crorey was 1 for 2 with a run scored.
PN-G plays at home next Friday against Baytown Lee.
