The Rotary Club of Port Arthur continues its yearly tradition of arranging boxes of food to hand out this thanksgiving to those in need.

The Rotary Club of Port Arthur gathered to arrange boxes of food Thursday containing an assortment of Thanksgiving based items including mashed potatoes, corn bread and ham. These boxes will go to single person households that may not have the ability to go out and buy a meal.

The Rotary club of Port Arthur and Community Care Prayer Outreach packed over 150 boxes of food to hand out with the help of the Bob Hope High School Interact Club students. Together these two organizations have been collaborating for over 10 plus years to serve the Mid-County area during Thanksgiving.

“We are putting our program out there. We are very honest and transparent about what we do here.” said Dedra Curtis, Director of Community Care Prayer Outreach Center. And we want people to know that this is a safe place. This is a place where, if you have a need, we are going to do whatever we can to help you meet that need.”

Community Care Prayer Outreach and Rotary Club of Port Arthur serve year round. Together they hope to lift up the community of Southeast Texas with various clothing donations, food assistance and toy drives.

“And we want people to know that this is a safe place. This is a place where if you have a need we are going to do whatever we can to help you meet that need.” said Curtis.

Food items will be handed out on Thursday, Nov. 21 at the Community Care Prayer Outreach Center. Those that wish to receive a box can call 409-724-0163 to apply.
