Minions, Princesses and more at Paint and Party Shack

PORT NECHES — Lindsey Kinnett knows what it’s like to host her child’s birthday party and be so busy she couldn’t enjoy the festivities.

That experience led to the creation of her business, Paint and Party Shack, 1207 Port Neches Ave., in Port Neches.

The business caters to private themed parties with everything from Princess Teas with Elsa or Cinderella in attendance to Despicable Me parties, beach themed parties and more.

“I like to say if you can dream it we can do it,” Kinnett said.

The party center, which opened in June, has a little bit of everything. One corner showcases the very popular Princess Tea table with wistful pastel colored tulle on a carriage-like table, round tables with colorful decorations, a set of child-sized picnic tables and several painted scenes on a canvas backdrop.

Kinnett and husband Pete have four children between them, ages 6, 12, 14 and 14. Kinnett’s sister Marissa Phillips, helps at the business.

During the summer Paint and Party Shack offered a 5-week art camp where about 200 children attended.

“Each week we had a theme. One was a beach theme where some children made flip-flop door hangers and others made beach ball hangers. We also had an American theme and pallet art with an anchor.”

All of the parties include a craft the child can take home and parents get to relax and let Kinnett take care of the setup and cleanup.

“We also want to host a parents night where they can drop off the kids and go Christmas shopping,” she said. “We’ll have a movie, hot chocolate and a craft activity.”

Husband Pete Kinnett remembers his crafty wife collecting the cardboard inside toilet paper rolls and thought it was funny at first.

“On parent night the kids used them to make Minions and loved them,” Pete Kinnett said.

Paint and Party Shack is also available for rent for baby showers and wedding showers.
