UPDATE: Motorcycle crash victim identified

BEAUMONT — Beaumont Police have released the name of the man who reportedly led police on a brief chase before a fatal motorcycle crash late Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as Zacharia Kondos, 28, of Vidor. Police have confirmed Kondos’ driver license was suspended Jan. 26 and he had an assault-family violence warrant out of Jefferson County.
Beaumont Police officers in the area of Center and Ashley attempted to stop the driver of the 2002 Yamaha motorcycle at about 11:50 p.m. Aug. 6, according to a press release.
The driver refused to stop and led officers on a brief pursuit. The driver was traveling east on the Interstate-10 Service Road, ran the red light at Martin Luther King Boulevard and struck a 2005 Tan Yukon.
The motorcycle driver was transported to Christus Hospital-St. Elizabeth by EMS and was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival. There were six passengers in the Yukon, a mother and five children. They had non-life-threatening injuries.
