Port Arthur man found guilty of human trafficking girls under 18

A Port Arthur man has been found guilty of first-degree felony of two counts of trafficking persons younger than 18.

A jury in Judge John Stevens’ Criminal District court on Monday handed down the punishment of 20 years of prison time for each count of human trafficking to Fabbian Donta Scott, 26. These counts will run continuously for a total of 40 years prison time.

On or about March 1, the Beaumont Police Department Police Department received a tip from the National Trafficking Hotline reporting about two 16-year-old females who were being exploited in a local hotel. Investigators found evidence of ads on websites that reportedly promoted prostitution leading to a callback number that led to Scott’s arrest.

Scott was charged in 2021 working with another man to traffic young girls out of a Beaumont hotel.

Beaumont police contend Scott and another man by the name of Jake Knight Jones, 39, of Port Arthur worked together to reportedly promote prostitution according to the probable cause affidavit.

Jones was also found guilty and was given a sentence of 20 years.

Scott was arrested on March 16, 2021, on two charges of trafficking a person under the age of 18 with bonds at $1,000,000 total.

Sonny Eckhart served as the prosecuting attorney and Jimmy Hamm served as the defense attorney for this case.

Scott will not be eligible for probation as a circumstance of the type of crime he is being charged with. Scott will however be eligible for parole after 10 years served.
