Driver that allegedly struck two pedestrians, killing one, turns self in to police

Bond is set at $40,000 for a man that allegedly struck two pedestrians, killing one and seriously injuring the other. 

Carl Ross, 50, is charged with collision involving death and collision involving serious bodily injury in connection with the death of Sergio Torres, 48, and injury of another person. 

The collision involving a pickup truck occurred in the 5300 block of Gulfway Drive Saturday afternoon.

The two victims were taken to local and area hospitals but Torres died.

Port Arthur Police Chief Tim Duriso said they will turn the information over to the Jefferson County District attorneys who will make a determination on whether to pursue additional charges. 

Duriso said Ross turned himself in to authorities on Tuesday.
