Edgar Grant Williams, 90, departed this life January 23, 2025.  “Boogie”, as he was called by family and friends, was born June 9, 1934, to parents Abner Williams, Sr. and Isabelle Williams Virgin.

Edgar graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School and then matriculated at Wiley College (Marshall, TX) earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.  His work experiences and service included Port Arthur ISD followed by a longtime career in Port Arthur’s Urban Renewal Agency and Land Acquisitions. Edgar was a Texas Board certified Appraiser.

Boogie enjoyed outdoor sports; football was his personal favorite. He played football in both high school and college and was recognized in the special Football Hall of
Fame at Wiley. Boogie loved reading and collecting history; his notebooks and folders are endless collections.

He was a proud member of St James Catholic Church, confirming his faith in 1990. He attended and supported St. James for thirty-five years until his health prevented him from attending. He is preceded in death by his parents and his four siblings, Abner Jr., Emily Jenkins, Richard Williams, and Yvonne Terry; two nieces, Joanna Brady and Richelle Gipson; two nephews, Tommy and James Brady. Boogie is survived by one nephew, Dr. Glenn Mitchell, Sr. (Dr. Carol); four nieces, Johannah Williams, Monica Newcost, Cheryl Williams and Romona Ledet (Shawn); a host of great nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2025, at St. James Catholic Church, 3617 Gulfway Drive, Port Arthur, TX with visitation from 9 a.m. until service time.
Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
