Eleven locals receive scholarships from Rotary Club of Port Arthur
The Rotary Club of Port Arthur announced recipients of 11 high school scholarship awards, as selected by members of the club.
The winners were selected based on their academic performance, community service, extracurricular activities and an essay on what the scholarship would mean to their success.
The awards range from $550 to $2,000 and total $9,850.
“We are proud to celebrate the accomplishments of each student selected for a scholarship and wish the best to each one of them as they matriculate toward their college experience,” the club writes in a news release.
A recognition ceremony is under consideration.
Scholarship winners include:
- Memorial High School: Chloe Guidry, Phong Khuu, My’reaka J. Maxwell, Angel Garcia and Jasmin Henley
- Bob Hope School: Vicky Longoria, Imelda Barriga, Melany Esquivel, Adrian Medina and Aly Martinez
- Sabine Pass High School: Anika M. Decuir
