UPDATE: Authorities respond to fatal collision outside Port Arthur
The Texas Department of Public Safety is leading the investigation into Wednesday’s auto-pedestrian crash fatality that took place just outside Port Arthur.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates the collision occurred on Texas 87, approximately one mile east of Port Arthur.
Authorities said a man was struck and killed at approximately 5:20 a.m. by a 2008 Infinity car that was traveling west.
Sergeant David Hendry’s initial release indicated the pedestrian was struck in the roadway.
Police identified the driver of the Infinity as 24-year-old Orrin Landers from Orange. Landers was not injured as a result of the crash.
The identity of the pedestrian is not available pending notification of next of kin.
This crash remains under investigation.
