A ninth Port Arthur resident has died as a result of the coronavirus, health officials announced at 1 p.m. Monday.
“It is with great sadness” that the City of Port Arthur Health Department confirmed the news.
Officials said the victim was an African American male between 55 and 60 years old.
“It has been determined that the individual had underlying health conditions,” the health department said.
On Friday, the health department confirmed 35 additional Port Arthur residents tested positive for COVID-19 that day.
That brought the total to 513 Port Arthur residents who have tested positive for COVID-19 since testing started in the City of Port Arthur.
The health department will release weekend numbers later Monday.
