H. Lamar Hebert went to his eternal home with the Lord on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at the age of 83. Born in Port Arthur Texas on January 13, 1937, to Silas and Victorine (Clark) Hebert.

Lamar excelled in athletics and earned his way through undergraduate school with football scholarships at Kilgore Junior College and Louisiana College.

He went on to graduate school on fellowships, receiving an MBA at the University of Virginia and a PhD at the University of Michigan.

On July 31, 1959, Lamar married Margaret “Margo” Alene Ward in Galax, Virginia.

He retired from Little Cypress-Mauriceville ISD as District Superintendent. They moved to Katy from Galax eight years ago.

Lamar was a devoted Christian and family man.

He was a member of Second Baptist Church West Campus and loved sharing the Bible with his grandsons.

He served as a Deacon and Life Group teacher in prior churches.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 61 years, Margaret “Margo” Hebert of Katy, Texas; sons, Harold Lamar Hebert, Jr. and his wife Nete of Katy, Texas, and Windell Ward Hebert and his wife Cathy of St. Louis, Missouri; siblings, Faye Henry and her husband L.B. of Baytown, Texas, Windell Hebert and his wife Jessie of Spring, Texas, and Jeanie Rose and her husband Rick of Conroe, Texas; five grandchildren, Leo Hebert, Terry Hebert, Tony Hebert, Brett Hebert and Blake Hebert; his dog, Lucy; as well as numerous other relatives and host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Silas and Victorine Hebert.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel, in Katy.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, in Groves, Texas, with his brother, Windell Hebert officiating.
