The Schooner Restaurant closing temporarily following COVID-19 concern

A local restaurant landmark is closing temporarily to combat COVID-19 concerns.

The Schooner Restaurant announced Saturday (July 11) one of its employees tested positive for coronavirus.

“The health and safety of our guests and employees is the No. 1 priority of The Schooner Restaurant,” a statement read. “As a fixture in the community for over 70 years, we feel it is our responsibility to be proactive in difficult times.”

Restaurant leaders said enhanced safety measures advised by the CDC and local health department allowed them to quickly identify employees who tested positive for COVID-19.

“In an abundance of caution, we will temporarily close to complete rigorous sanitation and disinfectant measures of our restaurant,” a statement read. “We are sincerely thankful for your support and trust.”
