A record number of COVID-19 cases were reported Thursday in Port Arthur and Mid-County.
In all, health officials reported 54 new cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative total for cases in Port Arthur, Port Neches, Nederland and Groves to 567.
The news was worse out of Nederland, where city officials reported the second death of a local citizen tied in relation to the coronavirus.
The City of Nederland said it received information Thursday that the number of total positive COVID-19 test results increased to 96 with six new positive cases.
Groves reported nine additional positive COVID-19 cases for local residents, including six females and three males.
This brings the total to 74 individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 for Groves since testing began.
Health Departments reported nine additional Port Neches residents who tested positive for coronavirus. The individuals include six females and three males.
This brings the total to 60 Port Neches residents who have tested positive for COVID-19 since testing began.
The City of Port Arthur Health Department received confirmation of 30 additional Port Arthur residents who tested positive for COVID-19 — 17 females and 13 males.
This brings the total to three hundred thirty-seven (337) Port Arthur residents who have tested positive for COVID-19 since testing started in the City of Port Arthur.
