Sidney Paul Riviere Jr., 88, of Groves, Texas passed away Friday, July 3, 2020 surrounded by his family.

Sidney was born November 5, 1931 in Port Arthur, Texas to Sidney Paul Riviere, Sr. and Octavia LeBeouf Riviere.

He was a resident of Groves for over 60 years, and was an active member of Immaculate Conception/St. Peters Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and usher.

Sidney retired from the United States Postal Service after 30 years as a postal carrier.

He proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force.

Sidney was a devoted husband, father, and papa who never missed a sporting event, dance recital, or school function.

He was an avid sport fan who loved watching PNG Indians, Aggies, Cowboys, Astros, Texans and Rockets.

Sidney loved to travel with his family including camping, and hiking in Estes Park, and his all time favorite, cruising.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Agnes Neely, Margie Landry, and Dorothy Fitzgerald.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Zelma Riviere; daughters, Karen English of Groves, and Brenda Maldonado and husband Nick of Beaumont; son, Michael Riviere and Effi Brandenburg of Spring Branch; grandchildren, Aimee Daigle, Adam English, Austin English, Shellie Stanley, Megan Maldonado, and Melissa Kelly; and six great-grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. with a 6:00 p.m. Rosary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at Immaculate Conception/St. Peters Catholic Church in Groves with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.

Due to the Covid-19 all are required to wear a mask and social distance.
