Writing my article this month was harder than most. I couldn’t put my finger exactly on the “why” it was difficult. I thought about it for a while and then realized that I was ALLOWING society to keep me from writing what was in my heart.

I was trying to be politically correct in everything I said on a daily basis. As you know, life is full of obstacles. Right now we are all on a roller coaster of emotions or better yet living inside a Tilt A World Ride.

With riots, protests, COVID, hurricane season, campaign elections and hatred in social media and other platforms, it’s just mind boggling. I thought about those who might read this post. I want you to know if you are reading this, that YOU MATTER! In my opinion and heart, ALL OF OUR LIVES MATTER!

We were all adopted into this world to make it a better place and to be helpers to mankind. We are in this world together and we can either destroy it or make it better for the next generation.

I personally want my grandchildren to know that I tried to make a difference whether everyone agreed or disagreed with me, liked or disliked me, or even knew me. We won’t always agree but we can cordially agree to disagree.

I want to treat others the way I want to be treated, with respect and dignity. I agree that some days it’s harder than others, but that’s this thing we were chosen to do TOGETHER called LIFE.

I’ll wear my mask proudly to protect you and hope you can see in my eyes that I’m smiling behind my mask. Our eyes and body language speak volumes of expression. I want to show my children and friends that there is  hope, joy, love and peace in this world.

We only have one chance to get it right in our lifetime. I thought about our local stores and our community as I’ve lived in Nederland my entire life. I’m so thankful for our Police and Fire Departments.

I know they will be there when I need them and I want that security. I want them to know I support and appreciate each of them. They chose to protect us and I chose my job to help grow our City. Working on my first Pandemic Billboards made me realize how appreciative I am to live in a smaller community.

Who would have ever thought I would be creating Pandemic Billboards?

They turned out nicely and will be up next week on a highway near you. Please remember to shop local and help our stores stay open. Wear your masks so the store owners won’t be fined.

Our local stores are there with resources to help you during this time of need and they were there in the past when you needed them.

Look for the rainbows in life! I would like to suggest this month read a new book, take a walk around town, cook a new recipe, reflect on the many positives in your life, shop in a store, eat at a local restaurant or do take out. Go camping in your backyard and make s’mores.

Shop online locally and choose curbside or home delivery. We need each other to make this world a better place. WE CAN DO THIS!!!!

Please I ask you, let’s all do our part to make our community better. I choose to stop riding in this Tilt A World! Choose to find good in others and please remember to always #SHOPLOCAL#SHOPOFTEN#SHOP NEDERLAND.
