On September 10, 1957, a child was born to Dolly and Leroy Jones, in Madison, Wisconsin.

In 1958, Leroy moved his family to Port Arthur, Texas.

Toney was baptized at an early age by Pastor Dan McDaniel at Guiding Star Baptist Church. He later became a member of Paradise Missionary Baptist Church where he served from the Young Adult Choir to the Male Chorus.

One of his favorite songs was “Remember Me”.

On April 29, 1982 Toney married his childhood sweetheart, Bertha Dumes and to this union 4 children were born.

A daughter Eboney Jones, three sons, Toney Jones Jr., Caleb Jones, and Jeffrey Jones.

Toney was a 1976 Graduate of Stephen F. Austin High School.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Bernadine Landry, and Sharon Dupree, two brother-n-laws, Bobby Dumes, Earnest Webb, a granddaughter, Cay ’Leigh Nicole Jones, and a nephew, Marcus Bert.

Toney leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife, Bertha Jones, a daughter, Eboney Johnson (Curtis), three sons, Toney Jones Jr., Caleb, and Jeffrey Jones. A sister, Grace Theus (Johnny), two brothers Donald Jones, and Dwight Jones (Jacqueline), two sister-n-laws Shelley Washington (Prince) and Eugenia Webb. 5 grandchildren: Alexis Denai, Cory Allen, Robert Mathis, Tayshawn and Trae’Von Jones. One aunt, Dorothy Richard, and one uncle, Thomas T. Jones, close friends Shay Barnes, John Adams and Kenneth Pleasant and man best friend “King Jones.” The Paradise Church family, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2020 at Gabriel Funeral Home Chapel with visitation from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery.
