Mattie Jean Champagne, 75, of Port Arthur, passed away on Friday morning, June 5th, 2020, in the comforts of her daughter’s home.
She spent her early years in Rayne, Louisiana, prior to moving to Port Arthur in 1969, with her husband, Stanford Champagne, Sr. and their two sons, Stanford Joseph Champagne, Jr. and Carl Joseph Champagne.
They were later blessed with a beautiful daughter, Cynthia Marie Champagne-Young.
Mattie retired in 2006, after working over 32 years at Fina/Total Refinery as a Lab Technician. Outside of work, she spent a lot of her time sewing and gardening.
Her greatest passion was cooking – which she was very good at.

She is survived by her children: Stanford Champagne, Jr., Carl Champagne (Jane), and Cynthia Champagne-Young (James Young Jr.); her grandchildren: James Young III, Jayla Young, Jules Young, Aliza Champagne and Carl Champagne, Jr.; and her great-grandchild: Jharyn Kade Romar.
Her sisters: Opal Gray, Jill Rochon, Lori Bossier Davis, Clara Hart, Sarah Bossier and Marie Bossier Lundy.
And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.
