Ida Mae Davis our beloved aunt, sister, and friend passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 4, 2020.
Ida was born on April 4, 1940 in Port Arthur, Texas to the late Oscar Earl and Maggie Frederick Davis.
She was a life-long resident of Groves.
Ida was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Earl Davis and Maggie Frederick Davis; sister, Maryann Davis, and beloved brother James Earl “Jimmy” Davis Sr.
Ida was a graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School and attended Lamar University in Port Arthur.
Ida worked at the Jefferson County Courthouse and Texaco Chemical.
She also was active in working elections for Jefferson County.
She was a devoted member of St. James Catholic Church in Port Arthur where she held many positions.
Ida will continue to be loved and cherished by her loving brother, Oscar and wife Faye; her sister-in-law Helen Davis; her children Michele Davis Sheppard; Christy Davis; Jimbo Davis and his wife Amber; Brian Davis; her great nephews Spencer Sheppard, Tyler Sheppard, Jett Davis, and Walker Sheppard; her great-niece Kennedy Davis; her God-daughters Lauren Linn and Amanda Alford-Grogan; and numerous family and friends.
We want to especially thank her beloved Dr. Dia Abochamh; Dr. Michael Bergal and The Rehab Unit of The Medical Center of Southeast Texas; The Heritage House and her wonderful and loving nurses, Ms. Mary and LaPrincess; Oak Grove Nursing Home; and Paula Baxter with Compassion Hospice, and Dr. Andy Chen with Texas Oncology.
Services will be held at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas on Wednesday, June 17 with Visitation beginning at 5:00pm – 7:00pm with a recitation of the Rosary at 6:30pm. Funeral Mass will be at St. James Catholic Church on Thursday, June 18 at 10:00am.
Honorary Pallbearers are Jimbo Davis, Brian Davis, Spencer Sheppard, Tyler Sheppard, Jett Davis, Walker Sheppard and beloved companion, her dog, Mardi.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in her honor to her beloved St. James Catholic Church, Port Arthur, Texas.
