KATHIE DEASY — What it means to be a believer

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

My definition of “believing” for a firm, true, genuine, real, religious faith and marriage vows, that no person, situation or thing could ever talk me out of … because my heart is different and full of Jesus.

I believe in a loving, powerful, God, whom I call my Heavenly Father. My natural father passed when I was only 26, and although he took good care of me and my family and loved us, I miss him, like crazy, still.

But, he’s gone, and, until I see him in heaven I have some tender and fun memories and learned so much from him about life, people and a great work ethic.

I, then, began in my studies in the scriptures to find out about my Heavenly Father and how He never leaves or forsakes us. Wow, did I have a wonderful time of beginning my relationship with Him and the knowledge to share with others who need Him (like we all do)!

I talk to Him all the time and know that He loves me and mine and answers all my prayers! I thank Him for giving me His Son and Holy Spirit with authority from on high, for my life, until He comes for me. They minister to me and mine, continually. Thank you, God and I praise You, forevermore.

You hear and read from me, bottom line, it’s the scriptures and Spirit where I live and breathe. Well, when people ask me why I BELIEVE the Bible for everything, I always answer, “because I know the Author!”

That usually goes to their hearts and minds. Hopefully, they’ll believe one day, too! He has encouraged, taught and corrected me in His Word, Amen.

My personal favorite as a Servant of God, Psalmist, Teacher of the Word, Pastor at Large and Proverbs 31 Woman, is the scripture in John 6:28 &29 NKJ: “… the people asked Jesus, what must we do to do the Work of God, (to carry out what God wants done), Jesus replied, this is the work (service) that God asks of you, is, that you BELIEVE in Him, whom He sent.”

Are you thinking that it can’t be that simple? Yes, it can.

Close your eyes, sit back and say either quietly or shout it from the rooftops: I believe in God. I believe Jesus was crucified and raised from the dead. I believe I’m saved and going to Heaven (eventually). I believe my family believes. I believe I am healed (because Jesus is the Healer and that’s God’s will for us all). I believe I have the Peace that passes all understanding. I believe I am a joyful person, giving it away wherever I go.

I encourage you to make sure you have a Bible and read it every day. Start with a gospel: Matthew, Mark, Luke or John, at least a chapter a day. Come visit me at my Golden Triangle Church on the Rock where U.S. 69 meets Twin City Highway, Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

Pastor Ron Hammonds and our team are excited about God, His Word and you. The music and prayer is powerful and folks are friendly.
