PAPD confirms 3-year-old killed Thursday, says auto-pedestrian collision still under investigation

A 3-year-old girl was killed when struck by a vehicle in the Lakeview area of Port Arthur Thursday night.

The collision occurred in the 4700 block of Sixth Street at approximately 7:34 p.m.

The child, whose name is not being released by police pending notification of next of kin, was brought to a local hospital with life–threatening injuries.

Once there, she was pronounced dead, according to information from the Port Arthur Police Department.
Det. Sadie Guedry said no arrests have been made and no citations issued as the collision remains under investigation.

Photos from the scene showed PAPD officers investigating a grey- or silver-colored, extended cab Chevrolet Silverado that was behind police tape.

Police are also not saying if the child lived in the area or was visiting.

PAPD’s Advanced accident Reconstruction Team, who were notified and responded to the scene, is handling the case.
