A mother of two Port Arthur children has been arrested after police said she abducted two youngsters Wednesday morning.

Port Arthur Police Department officers responded to the 2300 block of 17th St. at 12:40 a.m. in reference to two children, ages 9 and 10, being taken from a home without permission from their legal guardians.

At approximately 10:13 a.m. PAPD dispatch received information that the children were seen in the 7600 block of Ninth Avenue.

“Upon officers’ arrival, both children were found safe and unharmed and returned to their legal guardians,” Hebert said. “The suspect was also located and arrested for an outstanding county warrant.”

The suspect’s name was not immediately released, but authorities said she was taken to the JCSO correctional facility.

Additional criminal charges are pending as investigators continue to gather evidence, police said.
