Port Arthur Police were alerted to Rodriguez’ body by a concerned resident.

According to the affidavit, Abshire told police she made an outcry to relatives that she had stabbed someone.

A reportee who was trying to verify the outcry located the body of Rodriguez in the wooded area and alerted police.

Abshire was located by police and interviewed about the crime and told police the two had had an altercation and she displayed a knife as well as describing Rodriguez’s injuries.

She further stated that after she stabbed Rodriguez, he ran and she fled the scene.

The document states the injuries Rodriguez received suggest the actions were intentional.

Judge Ben Collins set Abshire’s bond at $1 million. She also has a $200 bond for failure to appear and was out of jail on bond for a theft charge out of Port Arthur at the time of the killing.
