Armenia Hilton, 89, of Nederland, TX went to be with the Lord on May 11, 2020.

She was the daughter of Louis and Fannie Van Schoubroek.

After traveling for several years, Armenia and her husband, Charles Ernest Hilton Sr. returned to live in San Augustine, TX.

He worked for a seismograph company and she followed him with the children.

They lived in Illinois, Louisiana, New Mexico, California, and all over Texas.

She was a member of First Baptist in San Augustine and worked in the church nursery.

Armenia ran a Day Care Center for over 15 years and raised many children.

After Charles died, she married William Hilton and moved to Nederland.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist, Nederland and loved going to Sunday school and WMU.

Armenia worked at Nederland Christian Book Store for several years and spread the love of Jesus to everyone she met.

Armenia loved to bake, cook, and entertain her family and friends.

After her son, Charles Jr. and his family were killed in a tragic car accident on May 11, 1986, she started an educational scholarship for graduating church members in which each one was given $500.

She did this for over 20 years.

Her life touched many in her time here on Earth.

We loved her so much and will miss her dearly. She is resting in peace in Heaven now.

She was an amazing woman.

Those who are left to cherish her memories are her husband, William Hilton, her daughters, Mattie Jo Ainsworth (Nelson), Ernestine Johnson (Leonard), Janie Mosley (Lonnie), her son, Mark Hilton (Dee), her grandchildren, Angela Malone (Robert), Amanda Jo Pynes (Tim), Jason Mosley, Josh Mosley (Mandi), Keith Ainsworth (Deb), great grandchildren, Palmer and Karis Malone, Isla and Ellis Mosley, Jordan, Josh, and Elena Jo Pynes. Her sisters, Merline Green, Joyce Robinson (Tommy), Jeannie Evans, many other relatives and friends.

Services were  held at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home with a cousin, Edwin Henly, officiating. Her granddaughter, Amanda Jo Pynes sang her favorite song, “Amazing Grace”.

Armenia was buried at Chinquapin Cemetery in San Augustine County where she was raised.
