Dustin Marsh of Groves recently scored his first ever hole in one while playing at The Country Club of Texas in Beaumont. The ace came from 198-yards on the eighth hole. Marsh swung a 6-iron. Mike Tarver of Lumberton was the witness . . .

Scott Bryant of Beaumont pulled off the shot of the week at Zaharias, sinking a bump-and-run 8-iron from 72 yards for an eagle 2 on the 16th hole. Witnesses were Randy Trahan, Wes McDonald and Bob West . . .

The Monday Senior 50 Plus 2 ball at Babe Zaharias saw the team of Craig Geoffroy, Larry Reece, Larry Foster and Pete Reobroi win the front with minus 5. A big reason for that Reece, a former coach at Stephen F. Austin High School in Port Arthur, Larry Reece shooting his best ever round of 69.

On the back, there was a three-way tie at minus 3 between the Geoffroy team, the team of Jim Cady, Rufus Reyes, Larry Lee and Bobby Kimball and the foursome of Kenny Robbins, Tony Trevino, Darrell Latiolias and Jerry May . . .

The Wednesday DogFight at Zaharias was played in an all-points-count format. Placing first with 29 points was the team of Joe Gongora, Rufus Reyes, Reece and Dillard Darbonne. There was a three-way tie for second at 25 points.

Closest to the hole winners were Ed Holley (No. 2, No. 15), Calvin Landry (No. 7) and Doug LeBlanc (No. 12).
