Friday morning update: Severe storms expected across region
Strong to severe storms are expected today (May 8) across the region, threatening those in and around Port Arthur and Mid-County.
The storms are starting this morning in central Louisiana and extending south this afternoon.
The National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center continues to put out a slight 15 percent risk for most of the region.
Warning Coordination Meteorologist Roger Erickson said damaging winds, hail and an isolated tornado are all possible.
